Previously mentioned here: The Long Wait.
Back in 2007 I wrote about 2 bills held up in the NC legislature. Well, the time is here for the bills to be reintroduced.
In addition to the legislation mentioned last week, NRA is working with State Representative Mark Hilton (R-96) and State Senator Andrew Brock (R-34) to introduce “Castle Doctrine” self-defense bills, which will seek to allow law-abiding citizens to use the force they deem necessary against a violent criminal attacker to protect themselves wherever they have a legal right to be. The bill also provides civil immunity for those who defend themselves from criminal attack.
HB310, stalled in 2007, has been reintroduced as HB257
HB257
House Bill 257, introduced by pro-gun State Representatives George Cleveland, Mark Hilton, Tim Moore (R-111), and Laura Wiley (R-61), would prohibit any government entity from seizing lawfully possessed firearms, ammunition, or ammunition components during a declared state of emergency such as occurred following Hurricane Katrina.
Senate Bill 235, introduced by pro-gun State Senator Andrew Brock (R-34) and House Bill 270, introduced by pro-gun State Representatives Mark Hilton (R-96), Fred Steen (R-76), Justin Burr (R-67), and George Cleveland (R-14), would eliminate the prohibition on Right-to-Carry permit holders carrying their lawfully concealed firearms into a restaurant that serves alcohol.
